In 2016, artist, Stacey Torres, was 1 of 26 Hoosier Women Artists selected by the Lt. Governor and State Treasurer of Indiana (from more than 200 submissions). Her painting, "Nana, Gramps & Me," acrylic on 24 x 36" stretched canvas, hung in the offices of both the Lt. Governor (now current Governor of Indiana), Eric Holcomb, and the Office of the Indiana State Treasurer, Kelly Mitchell, from March 2016 until May 2017.
The painting, depicts the artist, along with her grandparents, in their Queens, New York backyard some time in the 1950s. It has influenced many of Torres' "garden" paintings, which she has become known for.
